Adam Gyorgy is an attorney at law partner at SBGK Attorneys at Law and Patent Attorneys in Hungary and member of AIPEX’s Unified Patent Court (UPC) litigation team. He is a registered European lawyer at the Vienna Bar Association and before the UPC. He recently graduated from Center for International Intellectual Property Studies with a diploma in European patent litigation, having focused on the newly established UPC. Adam has been involved in number of national patent litigation cases. He also represented Exeltis (Chemo group company from Spain) before the Court of Justice of the European Union in matter C-688/17 (Bayer) concerning damages action due to unfounded preliminary injunction and the interpretation of the Enforcement Directive. In his practice, Adam has also been involved in supplementary protection certificate litigation cases.
He publishes frequently in IAM innovation yearbooks on patent litigation in Hungary. He is a regular speaker at national and international conferences from Munich through Alicante to Lima.
He has been named a ‘next generation partner’ by The Legal 500 and is an IAM Patent 1000 recommended individual in patent litigation. Adam is an appointed expert by the Justice Ministry to the Council of Experts on Industrial Property and the Council of Copyright Experts in Hungary.
Adam holds an LLM degree in intellectual property and competition law from Munich Intellectual Property Law Center. He is currently a PhD candidate at ELTE University.
He is also an active member of the legal profession. In 2023, he was elected to the Board of the Budapest Bar Association and as a delegate to the Hungarian Bar. He is a member of European Patent Lawyers Association, the European Patent Litigators Association and the UPC Standing Committee of International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property.
