Antonio Miguel C Lu has more than 10 years’ legal experience working with foreign and local businesses to protect their brands and inventions. His vast experience in IP rights enforcement includes being a private prosecutor in a criminal case for unfair competition, where he successfully secured a conviction before a commercial court. He has also counselled clients in copyright infringement cases involving various industries, from visual arts to design and engineering.
Lu has represented clients before the Bureau of Legal Affairs of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines in high-profile patent and trademark litigation. He has been instrumental in the invalidation of several patents on behalf of pharmaceutical companies.
His work on non-contentious matters includes advising an amusement park in the acquisition of IP rights, managing the Philippine trademark portfolio of a global brand owner and assisting a local manufacturer in its filings across different jurisdictions.
He is a member of the standing committee on the commercialisation of intellectual property of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property. He is also a member of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association, the ASEAN Intellectual Property Association and the Intellectual Property Association of the Philippines (IPAP).
