Emmanuel Gougé is a renowned European intellectual property litigator with over 25 years’ experience. He has a strong focus on patents, trade secrets and trademarks. With his dual qualification in England and Wales and in France, and his professional background in Germany, Emmanuel has been involved in a range of multi-jurisdictional intellectual property litigation cases. His practice focuses mainly on electronics, automotive, aerospace, life sciences, and medical devices. Emmanuel’s experience is complemented by his expertise in negotiating and drafting domestic and international technology transfer agreements. Emmanuel regularly speaks at a wide range of professional and industry conferences on IP. He has been President of the Licensing Executive Society (LES) France from 2011 to 2015, Chair of the European Committee of LES International from 2019 to 2021 and is now counsel to the board of LES International. Emmanuel is the director of the diploma on patent litigation at CEIPI, University of Strasbourg, a leading programme for professionals who want to receive the accreditation to practice with the Unified Patent Court (UPC). He has been closely following the preparation of, and regularly speaks on, the UPC Rules of Procedure, and has been involved in the training of UPC judges. Emmanuel is an authorised UPC representative, and is able to represent clients before the UPC.
