In 1999 he obtained the first Italian ruling in the field of biotech patents, in 2004 the first Italian ruling on the validity of a computer implemented invention patent, and between 2005 and 2024 some of the most innovative and progressive measures for the protection of trade secrets and well-known trademarks in particular against look-alikes, including the highest damages ever awarded in Italy and the CJEU ruling which forced Italy to effectively grant copyright protection to design. The Firm has been dealing with IP enforcement matters also before the GC, CJEU and Courts established in third countries (in particular South Korea, China, and the US, where Professor Galli served also as Expert Witness), often co-ordinating the enforcement strategies of the Clients at a global level.
Apart from litigation, the Firm usually advises major companies on worldwide anti-counterfeiting, licensing and IPRs management strategies and is often asked to review and manage the most sensitive IP aspects of M&A transactions, developing creative solutions for the most problematic aspects thereof and delimitation of the respective rights of the parties.
Since 2004, Professor Galli has been a member of all the panels of experts appointed by the Italian Parliament and Government on IP Law issues, including the national implementation of Directive no. 2004/48/EC and the 2010 and 2023 reform of the Italian Code of Industrial Property. Further, Professor Galli assisted the Italian delegates in drafting the Rules of Procedure for the working of the Unified Court and has coordinated leading conferences on this issue.
The Firm members and in particular Professor Galli authored an impressive number of publications on almost all aspects of intellectual property, including the largest Italian commentary (a new edition will be out soon) and as Co-Editor of Il diritto industriale (the most important Italian IP Law Review) he analyses enforcement-related case-law to monitor trends and identify new developments in IP.
