Mariana Gonzalez is a chemist and attorney who graduated with honours from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Mariana also holds a master’s degree in business management and is a Certified Licensing Professional.

She has experience in research, including a research stay at Ohio State University in the characterisation of DNA bases by ultrafast laser spectroscopy.

Mariana has over 15 years of experience in intellectual property. She has specialised in the technical legal analysis of IP, technology transfer, technical consulting in regulatory aspects and strategic innovation management systems.

She has taught several courses at universities and professional associations. She frequently participates in local and international IP forums and publishes articles in different IP-specialised media.

Currently she is secretary of the Mexican Chapter of Licensing Executives Society International (LESI) and vice chair of the LES Americas Committee, Latin America liaison of the Women in IP Committee of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), member of the Patent Committee of the Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AMPPI), and member of the Standing Committees on Commercialisation of IP and Biotechnology of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI).
