Matteo Sabattini is director of IP policy at Ericsson, based in the Washington DC office. He is responsible for IP rights policy, advocacy and promotion at standards developing organisations, industry forums, trade associations and government agencies, among others. In addition to policy matters, he also supports licensing activities in the United States and Asia.

Dr Sabattini currently serves as the senior vice president for standards and is part of the management council of the Licensing Executives Society (LES) USA and Canada, and he co-chairs the LES FRAND licensing standards committee. He is also the co-chair of the Licensing Executives Society International consumer products committee. In addition, he serves as the vice chair of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) USA IP committee, as the technology policy director for IEEE Region 2, and as co-chair of the Intellectual Property Owners Association standards setting committee.

Dr Sabattini has years of expertise in technology and IP-related matters, with a background in business, policy and technical skills. He holds an MBA from the George Washington University, a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of California, San Diego, and an MS also in electrical engineering from the University of Bologna.

Before joining Ericsson, Dr Sabattini served as the chief technology officer of the Sisvel Group until February 2017. He also worked at InterDigital and Global Prior Art, a boutique IP consulting firm based in Boston MA. He also held several teaching and research positions in wireless and mobile communications at the University of California, San Diego, and at the German Aerospace Centre.

Dr Sabattini is an IEEE senior member, a Beta Gamma Sigma lifetime member, as well as a member of the LES and the MIT Enterprise Forum.
