Young-Bo Shim has ample experience in prosecuting patent applications before the Korea Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) in various technical fields including telecommunications, computer architecture, autonomous vehicles, semiconductor devices, broadcasting systems, software, business methods, display devices and image processing. Mr Shim has extensive experience in searching for patent or utility model documents and prior art for patent litigation and in patent clearance searches. He has conducted trials before the Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board, the Intellectual Property High Court and the Supreme Court. He has also drafted many patent specifications for nanoengineering and LED inventions and had them filed with the KIPO and USPTO. He is currently working on an inventorship matter for an AI called DABUS before the KIPO. He is a graduate of Seoul National University (BS electrical engineering, 2006) and Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC) LLM (IP and competition law, 2015 to 2016).
