This award provides up to $10,000 for up to two years to support medical students in their second or third year planning to pursue cardiothoracic surgery from economically disadvantaged backgrounds or who have overcome significant adversity. Recipients also receive up to $1,500 to attend the AATS Annual Meeting and are paired with a mentor.
