NYU Langone Orthopedic Surgery Summer Externship Program

Six-week summer externship (35 hours per week) in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at NYU Langone Health for first-year medical students. Externs shadow a faculty preceptor across outpatient, hospital clinic, and operating room settings, attend weekly academic lectures and hands-on skills sessions (splinting, casting, fracture fixation), and complete a scholarly activity (research project, review paper, or case report) presented at the end of the program. Scholarship support is available with preference for demonstrated financial need. Applications for the most recent cycle were due in early February with acceptances in March for a June to July program; the next cycle has not yet been posted, so check the program page for updated dates. NYU Grossman students apply through the separate Summer Research Fellowship program.
